Aldicarb, parathion, and methamidopho are three popular pesticides used in cotton production and three of the most hazardous insecticides to human health as determined by the World Health Organization. Cotton is commonly considered the world’s “dirtiest” crop: Pesticides commonly used on cotton crops are broad spectrum organophosphates – pesticides originally developed as toxic nerve agents during World War II. 

If we eat organic food then why not use organic menstrual products? Pesticides are not safe in our food and are not safe in our tampons. Our vagina is a mucous membrane – a quick entry point to the bloodstream – that sucks up pesticides, rayon, chlorine, bleach, fragrances, dyes, and other absorbent chemicals.  Residual fibres remain in our vaginas after removing tampons potentially leading to a variety of vaginal irritations, bladder and vaginal infections and Toxic Shock Syndrome.
